A cruise ship worker reveals his spending while living on the ship: "Save as much as possible."

Cruises are a unique way to spend your summer vacation. Sailing distant seas like the Caribbean or places not far from Spain and discovering the wonders of the Mediterranean is ideal for those who want to discover several places on a single trip. However, for many of the passengers who embark on these enormous ships, the crew's lifestyle is a complete mystery, and that's why one worker has revealed some details through TikTok.

One of the biggest questions cruise passengers often have about how those who work on the ship live is their expenses. Bryan James, a guitarist on one of these luxurious and monumental vessels, has revealed on social media what expenses he incurs while living and working on the high seas, and the answer may surprise many.

The first thing Bryan makes clear in the video is that he doesn't have to pay a single euro for his room, so his stay is completely free. In fact, as a guitarist, he has a larger room than other crew members, and he admits that when he was in a band, it was much smaller. He also confesses that he doesn't spend a single penny on food, as he eats breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the staff buffet.

Bryan says he could go to one of the many restaurants on the ship, but his goal "is to work and save as much as possible." So, what does he spend his money on? Well, one of the things he buys the most is soft drinks, and in the video he says he drinks about two a day, which is equivalent to $1.72 (€1.50) per day, which in turn translates to approximately €45 per month.

Of course, this isn't the biggest expense the musician faces while on board: the guitarist is forced to pay about $12 a day (€10.50) for internet access on the ship, which provides one gigabyte for about three hours (although it can be slow if there are a lot of people connected). That amount is about $360 a month, which in foreign currency is about €315.

Thus, refreshments and data are the two things the guitarist spends money on while on the ship. In total, Bryan spends about $411 (about €360) a month, as he doesn't have to pay for food or accommodations. While this is a considerable amount for working on a cruise ship, it actually saves him a significant amount of money while on the ship.
